[Kudzu-mochi]
プルプル感がたまりません!b0083560_17545261.jpg

Do you know what Kudzu-mochi is? This is a pudding-like cake, this jello is made out of kudzu[arrowroot] powder. The picture up above doesn't look (as always)but it's semitransparent and when you put some Kinako[soybean flour] and syrup on top, it looks just good with a lot of atmosphere.

There's another plant jelly in Japan. It's called Yokan, sweet jellied adzuki-bean paste. Yokan is written 羊羹 in Chinese character, it means "sheep" and "Soup made of vegetables and meats." Why is this plant jelly called "Sheep soup?", well, there're are some hypotheses. Yokan is originally came from China many many years ago. But most of Japanese people believed in Buddha, which means that they were not allowed to eat any meat. So, some people believe Yokan was made of sheep and people tried to create their own Yokan out of vegetables and some peoples says it had been made of plants from the biginning even before it came into Japan . Either way, ancient Japan was a vegan-friendly contry but now, it became one of those meat-and-fur-friendly countries.
